Helen O Grady End of Term Three 2012

Helen O Grady Botswana has been very quiet on the blogging front lately and for this I must apologise.  Term Three was so packed full with rehearsals for the end of year productions that my fingers could just not get any time to get down and do any blogging.  However if you check out our Facebook page you will be able to see some lovely photos of the children in their costumes and in mid acting.
The children were able to put into practice all their skills they had learnt in the first two terms and get on the stage and ACT.  I was so proud of them all for their efforts in making their short productions what they were.
The Helen O Grady Drama curriculum is packed with activities which helps to improve children's self confidence, public speaking skills, gives them positive feedback all the time and engages them in a lot of social interaction with their peers. www.dramaafrica.com

Year End Productions

Children at all of our studios are getting ready to present their year end productions.  The likes of The Grasshopper and the Ants, Tray Chic and Fancy That! will be showing mid November.  I have found that the their "thing" they love the most is the songs and it is so wonderful to have them throwing their ideas at me and using their large imaginative minds.  Lets see what happens on the night.........................  Cant wait.

August School Holidays

Helen O Grady Drama Academy hosted a week of holiday school at Northside Primary School in the August holidays.  We had fun putting on a production called The Pied Piper.  A lot of hard work went into learning lines, positions, expressions, etc.  A lot of FUN was had by all and by the end of the very short week (in our opinion) the children presented the play to their parents amidst much excitement when it came to make up and costumes and curtain calls!!!

Helen O Grady Drama Academy aims to hold another holiday school this coming December holidays and welcomes one and all to come in and join in the fun..

Second Term classes 2012

The curriculum for both the Kindy Program and the Lower and Upper Primary classes has been so much fun to use with the children this term.  The children have enjoyed bringing props to class to use in their improvisations and mimes to music.  Props just make the settings so much more vivid in the children's mind's eye and they can relate so much better to the subject with props to help them act.

Holiday Stage School Production

April school holidays were not so boring if you attended the Helen O Grady holiday school.  The young performers who attended put on a production of Pirate Joe with just four days to practice.  They were word perfect, enjoyed making their own costumes and learnt some valuable life skills in public speaking and building their own confidence.  Great fun was had by all as you can see by the happy smiling faces.........  it was so successful that there will be another holiday school put on in August school holidays.  Bookings will be essential as i think it is going to be another great week to attend.....

Northside Lower Primary proudly display their certificates.......

The Northside Lower Primary children recieved their highly deserved merit certificates at their last lesson for the term yesterday. Thornhill Lower Primary

The Thornhill Lower Primary students at Helen O Grady got down and had a lot of fun with their improvisation "Sorry, it was an accident" - they all worked together as a team in this one and it was a huge success..............

Northside Helen O Grady children

Here are the Northside Helen O Grady students enjoying the improvisation "Go Easy With the Chilli". Props are such a fun part of the improvisations they do in their lessons and these children really went all out and used their props to their full potential and had SO MUCH FUN, using their imaginations and turning into Mexicans at the Carnival!!

More from Rainbow

Another view of the kids from Rainbow enjoying their dance drama. Note the expression on their faces.

Rainbow Primary Studio

The students at Rainbow Primary School just love their Dance Drama's. This one in particular was The Hunt where they had to act out as tribes joining together and ending up as a happy group. In a Dance Drama the children are not allowed to speak at all and have to really use their facial and body expressions alongside the music to tell their story. They were fantastic at this.......................
